Background

Basil Conroy & Company was set up in July 1991 and since then has enjoyed continued expansion. We are proud of our comprehensive list of clients and as a result we are ideally experienced to provide a broad range of services and meet any challenge. This allows us to see our clients’ needs from many different angles and thus enables us to give well-informed advice.

Basil Conroy & Co. is fully committed to every project undertaken, from the smallest renovation of a private dwelling to large residential & commercial developments. Over the past 26 years Basil Conroy & Co. has prided itself on the effective and lasting partnerships that have been built with our client base, ensuring a high percentage of repeat business over a wide range of surveying services.

The Team:

On qualifying in 1978 Basil worked as a Surveyor with Healy Kelly & Partners for six years. In 1982 Basil was recognized as a Chartered Surveyor with the Irish Institute of Chartered Surveyors and the RICS. Basil has had valuable experience in all aspects of surveying both in Ireland and abroad, having spent two years working in Iran as a Quantity Surveyor for the Iranian Government and a further two years from 1987-1989 working in Africa for the Government of Zimbabwe, where he was employed through an Irish based firm The Fitzwilliam Partnership.

On his return to Ireland in 1989 Basil spent one year working for a private Quantity Surveying practice and one year working for a Main Contractor before founding Basil Conroy & Co. in 1991. In 2002 Basil was appointed a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. In 2012 Basil was appointed to the Presidents Panel on the SCSI Expert Witness services.

On qualifying Mel worked with Stephenson Associates, the largest multidisciplinary practice in Dublin, where he rose to the position of Senior Project Surveyor. In 1982 he left Ireland to work with an Italian General Contracting firm in Nigeria on projects such as St. Philomena Maternity Hospital, The University of Benin, The Government Offices in Benin City and The Regional Headquarters for The Medical Missionaries of Mary.

On returning to Ireland he worked as Chief Estimator and Quantity Surveyor with a Demolition and Civil Engineering Contractor and from there joined a medium sized General Contractor as Chief Estimator, Project Manager and Business Development Director. During his time there the Company completed a number of prestigious projects including the European Headquarters for Motorola (Ireland) Ltd, the Nissan Headquarters on the Naas Road, and Refurbishment Works on a number of listed buildings including The Dept of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, St Audoens Church and a number of Housing Refurbishment Schemes for Dublin City Council

Shane Brophy has working in this company, on and off,  since 2003 and is a highly motivated and skilled Quantity Surveyor.
He is an Associate of the company and is the Project Surveyor on most of the large scale projects engaged in. Shane has gained valuable experience working in Australia.
Shane carries a wealth of experience and is an ideal Project Surveyor to have on your team.

Enrique joined us in 2016 with Spanish university qualifications in both Building & Quantity Surveying and Architectural Services. Enrique is currently employed as a Building/Quantity Surveyor  and has added great dynamic input to the company since he joined.
Enrique is in charge of Bill of Quantity Production, on Site re-Measurements, Cost Estimates, etc.

All Building Surveying and Architectural matters are dealt with by Fergal who brings a wealth of Experience in Building Surveying to our skill sets in BCC.
